What is a Transportation Fee?

Erie Community College will implement a new transportation fee beginning Fall 2011. The fee will address student transportation for all students in a broader context.

The fee provides a Parking Permit for any of ECC's leased parking lots, as well as a NFTA Metro unlimited universal bus and rail pass, to all enrolled students. All part-time or full-time matriculated or non-matriculated students, regardless of campus location or credit hours, will be charged a fee of $60.00 for each term for the Fall and Spring. Students will be charged a $30.00 fee for any summer session they are enrolled. Students attending Fall, Spring and Summer could pay transportation fees up to $150.00 a year, depending on the semesters attended.

The transportation fee will assist the college in providing greater access to the campuses to take courses or attend activities, as well as providing expanded safety and security services, and educational workshops to enrolled students.

Students will receive the following benefits from the new transportation fee:

  • A NFTA Metro unlimited universal bus and rail pass
  • A parking permit for any of ECC's leased parking lots
  • Expanded blue light telephones at all campuses
  • Workshops focusing on personal safety and security
  • Evening escort service to car
  • Parking lot improvements
  • Intercampus shuttle

Why a Transportation Fee?

  • The fee provides opportunities of access to a larger number of students attending ECC's campuses.
  • The fee helps to fund parking lot improvements at the campuses.
  • The fee provides reduced Metro and rail passes to students.
  • The fee provides opportunities for all enrolled students to obtain a bus and rail pass and parking permit. The college restructured several parking and bus pass fees in order to develop one comprehensive fee that addresses student transportation. All parking permits, bus and rail passes, and personal safety and security programs will be implemented under the auspices of Student Affairs and Campus Security.
